HOPE-note 7

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.” -W. Churchill

“But this I call to mind and therefore I have hope.” -Lamentations 3

TAKE HEART!

Memories are often our greatest source of Hope. We hear “you can’t live in the past, and that’s true. We have a choice to dwell in the past, be present now or be waiting for the future. Since we can only be in one place at a time, the edge of the present where it just touches the future is my best spot. I can be engaged in today and just glimpse the promise of tomorrow.

Where do I get my Hope that tomorrow can be a reality? For that I visit the past. I remember all God has done for me and as the prophet says, “I have Hope.” The best version I think is “I get a grip on Hope.” I can imagine a hand, my hand, tightly griping Hope and not letting go of a future promised. Maybe you need to make that fist right now?

With that promise held on to for dear life, I and you can gain the courage to continue.

Isn’t continuing all we are really asked to do?
