HOPE-note 19

“YES and NO”

Mary responded, “ I am the Lord’s servant, and I am willing to say yes to whatever He wants.” -Luke 1:36

TAKE HEART!

They are one syllable words, yet they are powerful. We say yes to this and no to that. We go this way to yes or that way to no. We commit with a yes or turn down with a no.

Choosing yes to one thing is saying no to something else. Life is a series of yes and no.

2,000 years ago, Mary, a young girl, said “yes” to being the mother of Jesus. Joseph said “yes” to a questionable marriage and adopting the baby Jesus to raise as his earthly father. The shepherds’ seeking and worshipping the birth of a child in a manger in Bethlehem was their “yes” to Emmanuel – God with us!

The greatest YES belongs to God, Himself. He said “I am what you long for in your heart. I am with you and I am for you”. God said YES to a world that needed him.

This is the YES of Christmas. The Hope of Christmas we counted on then and we can believe in now. Let us meet that YES, with our own. It seems to me we have never needed it more.
